Here's what I spotted outside my window today...



I think the conversation went something like this..

man: hi, how are you?
woman: fine thanks, how are you?
man: I'm fine but it's a bit cold isn't it?
woman: yes, it's very cold today actually
man: I see you've been to the browny-greeny-beige shop?
woman: yes, they had this gorgeous browny-greeny-beige jacket in the window and I couldn't resist.
man: It looks nice and warm and also makes you look very sensible
woman: Well yes, I'm of that certain age now where I've realised that all of the material things in the world don't matter. Once I figured that out I threw away all of my colourful clothes and just went on a shopping spree at the BGB shop.
man: I made that same decision about 10 years ago and now I walk around with an air of superiority because I know I've figured out the true meaning of life.
woman: what's that then?
man: babysitting
woman: I was hoping you'd say that. I love babysitting.
man: Anyway, welcome to the browny-greeny-beige brigade. I know you'll enjoy your time with us
woman: Thanks. ok, see you then
man: good bye.

UPDATE 1 (5.Mar.07)
The same guy just walked past. He is still wearing the exact same clothes but this time he is carrying co-op bags. The question is... why go to the co-op when there is a somerfield just around the corner which is better-managed, better-stocked, friendlier staff etc? Hmmm, maybe the beige people like to stay loyal to the ways of old

He's walked past again just now. Wearing the same old beige clothes. However, this time I can confirm that he was indeed carrying a Somerfield bag. The plot thickens! He shops at the co-op AND at Somerfields. Here's today's exhibit..
