Avoriaz Holiday Pics - first batch
Anyway, here's some pics.
There'll be more photos coming soon because I made friends with 2 French girls (Estelle and Nathalie) and they also took photos which they're gonna send over to me by email.
===================
Apartment View
Here is the view we got from our apartment. It is overlooking the main street that runs through the centre of the resort village so we were very close to the ski-lifts (about 30 metres or so) and very close to the shops and restaurants
===================
Ski-Lift at Sunset
This is a nice shot taken by Gaz on day 5. Jolly nice yes?
===================
Husky Dog
After a hard day on the pull, a dog likes nothing more than to lie in the cool fresh snow. Ah bliss!!
===================
Gaz Masked and Dangerous
Here's Gaz all ready to go surfing
===================
...and here he is out on the piste
===================
Ghost in Apartment
We actually had a ghost in the apartment which was nice because it kept us company when it was quiet. Obviously, it is really just Gaz dressed in bedsheets.
===================
Taxi
Here's the taxis that were used in the village. Horse drawn carriages (or whatever they call them when they have skids instead of wheels). I wanted to go on one of these things but I didn't get round to it.
===================
Mark & Gaz Ready
Here we are, ready to go and rip it up
===================
Resort in the dark
The resort looked like a winter wonderland in the dark. Very nice place indeed.
===================
Sun on the slopes
I caught the sun quite a lot on my face. I'm currently red but I'm sure it will go brown in the next day or 2.
===================
-17.5c
What's cooler than being cool?
===================
===================
Bowling
Me and Gaz went bownling one night. It was 8 Euros each per game which is quite expensive when you think that the game was finished within 10 minutes. But it was good fun. Final score was Mark 96, Gaz 95 so it was a close call :)
===================
Mark and new Friends
So I made some good new friends. Nathalie (red jacket) was nice enough to invite me snowboarding in the afternoons with her friend Estelle and my friend Gaz. It worked out really nice and we had some great fun on the piste and some good times in the cafes, bars and restaurants etc too. Estelle (white jacket) switched to skis after 3 days (I think) and then flew past us all down the slopes from then on - she's a great skier, fast and in control!!
p.s. Yes I know.... I should've put my arms around my new buddies, but what can I say? I had a potato salad in my hands
===================
The Likely Lads
Here's me and Gaz sat outside the bowling alley
===================
Gaz dans le Tunnel
Gaz found a nice tunnel which was good for taking photos inside of. Funky yeah?
===================
Mark dans le Tunnel
Is it a pose? Or just a lazy stance? You decide
===================
Weekly Torch Skiing thingy
Every week the ski instructors from the resort ski down the big mountain in the dark holding flares. It looks really nice. This photo is when they'd all just got to the bottom of the slope and stopped in front of the gathered crowds
===================
"Foggy on the common"
Day 7 - lots of fog. That's me with the holiday rep just on our way back to the taxi to go back to the airport in Geneva
===================
Off Home
I'm just stood about waiting for the luggage van to pick us up. In the end the van never showed up so we had to walk for 10 minutes up to the taxi station carrying all of our luggage instead :(
